The Great Cobar Heritage Centre. This is a great place to learn about the past and the present in Cobar. Maybe even take a Town Tour.
The Memorial Service and Bowling Club. Just five minutes from our motel, the Club offers the best Chinese and Thai food you will have enjoyed for quite a while.
Three Pubs. The Great Western started out in 1898, though being 112 years old is not its only claim to fame. It’s also said to have the longest pub verandah in New South Wales, clocking up 100 metres. We also hear good reports about the new Cook.
Forget the Big Pineapple and the Big Banana, check out Cobar’s very own Big Tinnie. Measuring 5 metres by 2.5 metres, it’s said to hold 79,398 middies (New South Wales speak for a 10oz beer) and one 7oz. You will find it atop the Grand Hotel.
Enjoy a counter meal at the New Occidental Hotel, just three minutes from our motel.
Several eateries. You can enjoy a fast meal at Subways or Eagle Boys Pizza. The Cobar Bakery is excellent and offers a great breakfast.
Great coffee. Try the Gecko Cafe for a great coffee. It’s a ten minute walk.
Two supermarkets. Both supermarkets are locally owned. The one on Marshall Street has a liquor store. Opening hours are 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday and 8am to 5pm on Sunday.
A Fitness Centre. Here you will find tennis courts, sauna, gymnasium, skate park and a games room.
